Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Link-up when you use our app and services.

Last updated: 1 May 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Link-up mobile app and related services (the "Service") operated by Link-up South Africa ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, legally able to enter into a binding contract, and not prohibited from using the Service under any applicable law to use Link-up. By using the Service you confirm that you meet these requirements.

2. Your account

  • You must provide accurate, current information when creating your account.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential.
  • You may not create more than one account or use someone else's identity.
  • We may require identity verification before unlocking certain features and may suspend accounts that fail verification.

3. Acceptable use

You agree that you will not:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or commercial purpose;
  • Harass, threaten, intimidate, or impersonate any person;
  • Solicit money or financial information from other users;
  • Post sexually explicit content involving minors or non-consenting adults;
  • Share personal contact information of other users without consent;
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service;
  • Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited promotional content.

We may remove content, suspend, or permanently terminate accounts that violate these Terms at our discretion.

4. Content you post

You retain ownership of the photos, text, and other content ("User Content") you upload. By posting User Content you grant Link-up a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce, and adapt that content solely for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service. You represent that you own or have the necessary rights to the content you post.

5. Subscriptions and purchases

Some features of the Service may require payment. Pricing, billing cycles, and renewal terms will be shown in the app at the point of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period through your app store account.

Refunds are governed by the policy of the relevant app store (Apple App Store or Google Play). Where the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 applies, your statutory rights are not affected by these Terms.

6. Safety

Link-up provides safety features such as identity verification, blocking, reporting, and in-app safety guidance. You remain responsible for your interactions with other users. Always take sensible precautions when meeting people offline. See our Safety Tips for guidance.

7. Privacy

Our handling of your personal information is described in our Privacy Policy and our POPIA Compliance page, which form part of these Terms.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, about the Service, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that you will find a match or any particular outcome.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Link-up, its directors, employees, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable South African law.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from the in-app settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms or where required by law. On termination, your right to use the Service will end immediately.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be referred to the appropriate court of competent jurisdiction in South Africa, subject to your rights under the Consumer Protection Act and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
